薩比諾女人出面調停

The Intervention of the Sabine Women

In the 6th century BCE, during the early days of the founding of Rome, the Sabines launched an attack on the Romans to seek revenge after the Romans abducted a large number of Sabine women. However, the Sabine women, who had by then become wives and mothers, courageously stood between the two armies, amidst the clashing swords, spears, and an atmosphere of intense hostility. They earnestly pleaded with their husbands and fathers to reconcile with their enemies. Ultimately, their efforts led to the merging of the two tribes, becoming the founders of ancient Rome.

露卡米埃夫人

Madame Recamier

Julie Adelaide, a renowned socialite in 19th-century French society, was another prominent salon hostess in the tradition of Madame Geoffrin's classical salon model. She witnessed the French Revolution, the rise and fall of the First French Republic and the First French Empire, as well as the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy and the establishment of the July Monarchy. She eventually passed away in the second year of the establishment of the Second French Republic.

Liberty Leading the People

The "Three Glorious Days" of the July Revolution in 1830 marked another historic moment following the First French Revolution, where the monarchy was overthrown in the pursuit of a republic governed by and serving the people.

Parisians broke through barricades. The female figure at the top of the composition—half classical goddess, half woman of the people—urges the crowd forward while waving the tricolor flag, symbolizing liberty.

和平帶回繁榮

Peace bringing back Prosperity

The painter Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun was one of the greatest portrait artists of her time, on par with Quentin de La Tour or Jean-Baptiste Greuze.

Coming from a modest background, she became the official painter and friend of Queen Marie Antoinette of France. This brought the young and beautiful Le Brun great honor and prestige, allowing her to paint portraits for many members of the nobility and thus gaining entry into Parisian high society.
