ORIGIN

The origin of Virgo is associated with the Greek goddess Venus, also known as Demeter, and stories related to harvest and agriculture. In Greek mythology, Venus or Demeter is the Earth Mother and the goddess of agriculture, responsible for overseeing the growth of the Earth and the changing of the seasons. To explain the cycle of seasons, there is an interesting myth related to the formation of the Virgo constellation.

According to the myth, Demeter's daughter Persephone was kidnapped by the underworld king Hades and taken to the underworld. Demeter was grief-stricken and refused to let the Earth grow, causing it to become barren. When Persephone was allowed to return to Earth, Demeter's joy restored the Earth to life, and it began to grow and flourish once more.
